New Addition to Dolphin Colony

The National Aquarium in Baltimore announces the newest addition to the dolphin family – a male Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, born at the Aquarium on September 9th.

A tiny addition to the dolphin colony!

It’s a girl! Staff and volunteers at the National Aquarium in Baltimore are excited about a tiny addition to the dolphin colony: At approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 27 Chesapeake, a 16 year old Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, gave birth to a female calf. At birth the calf was approximately 30 lbs and 2-3 feet long. Chesapeake is the daughter of Shiloh. This is Chesapeake’s third calf born at the National Aquarium.

National Aquarium prepares for two dolphin calf births

The National Aquarium in Baltimore is pleased to announce the pregnancy of two Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, Shiloh and Chesapeake. After months of regular check-ups, ultrasounds and other health assessments performed by the Aquarium’s animal care staff, it is estimated that both dolphins are expected to give birth in late July or August.
