National Aquarium honored with AZA Exhibit Award

The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) announces its Best Exhibit Award has been given to the National Aquarium for Animal Planet Australia: Wild Extremes. Through this exhibit award, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums recognizes excellence in the area of live animal display and exhibit design by an AZA-accredited zoo or aquarium. The award was presented at the 84th Annual AZA Conference held recently in Milwaukee.

National Aquarium welcomes piece of the Smithsonian’s Ocean Hall Exhibit

The National Aquarium is proud to welcome the Ocean Today Kiosk, a small version of the Smithsonian’s new Sant Ocean Hall exhibit, to Baltimore. Designed to reveal a portion of the information from the exhibit that opened Friday, September 26, the interactive kiosk features ocean news and videos from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), a regional news feed, and important ocean conservation information.

A two-toed sloth born in Upland Tropical Rainforest

The National Aquarium is proud to welcome a new addition to the Upland Tropical Rain Forest – a two-toed sloth born in early September. The baby is the first sloth born at the National Aquarium.

National Aquarium Celebrates Dolphin’s 1st Birthday!

The National Aquarium is celebrating a dolphin birthday! Foster, an Atlantic bottlenose dolphin born at the Aquarium on September 9, 2007, is one year old today. A variety of celebrations will take place this week to help mark this important milestone in the dolphin’s young life.

Fridays after five return to the National Aquarium

The National Aquarium in Baltimore’s community discount program, Fridays After Five, begins September 5. Every Friday evening through March, guests entering the Aquarium between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. (exploring until 10 p.m.) will enjoy a low admission price of $8.
