JetBlue Announces Donation to National Aquarium
Value carrier JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) today launches nonstop service to its 57th destination, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), offering four daily flights to Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS), one of seven focus cities for the airline. The new service complements JetBlue’s existing six daily flights between Boston and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), giving customers more flights, more airport choices and more flexibility for their travel needs.
To celebrate its inaugural service on 09-09-09, JetBlue today announced a special $9 (a) sale fare each way between Baltimore and Boston for flights purchased by 11:59 p.m. MT tonight on www.jetblue.com. Travel must take place on a Tuesday or Wednesday between September 16, 2009 and November 18, 2009. Other restrictions apply (a).
JetBlue also pledged $5,000 to the National Aquarium in support of their conservation and animal care programs in and around the Chesapeake region. Additionally, customers can text the word OCEAN to 20222 to make a $5 donation to the National Aquarium in support of their global efforts to improve the health of the aquatic world (d). The airline is committed to creating strong corporate partnerships in the communities it serves, supporting the passion points that matter most to customers living and working in the local area.
JetBlue offers the most nonstop destinations from Boston than any other carrier, and we are happy to complement our existing service from The Hub to the D.C.-area with four new daily flights to Baltimore, the 57th destination in our route network,” said Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “We are in the business of giving customers more than the other guys, including a first checked bag, free snacks and drinks, the most legroom in coach and more free live entertainment – all without a fee. And we are also in the business of giving more back to the communities we serve, which is why we’re pleased to announce our support today of the National Aquarium.”
As a non-profit organization, the National Aquarium counts on corporate support from a like-minded organization like JetBlue to help us expand our conservation education work,” said Brigid Ferraro, Director of Partnership Marketing. “We are grateful for Jet Blue’s support as they expand their presence in the Baltimore community.”
We are pleased to welcome JetBlue Airways to BWI Marshall Airport,” said Timothy L. Campbell, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration. “This new service to Boston will provide both business and leisure travelers with more travel options, competitive fares, and excellent customer satisfaction.”
