Baltimore, MD (November 3, 2008) – The National Aquarium invites the community to have more fun this holiday season by indulging in Baltimore’s underwater world during Dollar Day Weekend, Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7. A tradition since the Aquarium opened in 1981, on Dollar Days admission is only $1.00 per person, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors can explore Animal Planet Australia: Wild Extremes, one of the Aquarium’s newest exhibits. Recently honored as
best exhibit by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, it depicts a typical river gorge in Australia’s Northern Territory and is home to 1,800 individual native animals representing 120 species, including freshwater crocodiles, turtles, fishes, free-flying birds and flying foxes.
Senses will come alive in the Aquarium’s new 4-D Immersion Theater this holiday season! For an extra $4 dollars, visitors can enjoy a showing of The Polar Express™ 4-D Experience. This 4-D adventure transforms the holiday classic into a 20-minute, action-packed movie experience that will keep young viewers on the edge of their seats through special sensory effects exclusive to the 4-D theater experience!
Dollar Day Weekend is supported by CW Baltimore, FOX 45, and Yellow Book. Arrive early as tickets are limited.
The National Aquarium, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to serving its diverse communities through a variety of affordable access programs. In 2005, the Aquarium established Fridays after Five, a promotion that offers $8 admission tickets every Friday evening from September through March. In addition, the Aquarium’s education department offers free field trips to all Maryland schools, as well as Grade-A student night for Baltimore County and City students, which allows free admission to students earning 3 or more A’s is a marking period.
